Food and Drink in Santa Fe Bay
During my March 21st visit to Bantayan Island we stumbled upon the floating bar. We had seen it before but had not been close enough to actually visit. This time we rented a multi-cab and drove as close to it as we could.
There was a boat that took us out to the bar.

This was a really hot day but out on the Floating Bar there was a nice breeze making it very comfortable there. I loved it there. If you do get hot, you can jump in the water! I couldn’t because I had a camera and a phone. Not sure how to handle that, not to mention a billfold! There were not a lot of people out there but there were a few and they had no problems getting into the water.
We decided to go back to our hotel and go swimming and then come back to the floating bar to eat. The restaurant at our hotel was just too hot. And this place was perfect with very friendly waitresses. I had the feeling they were open to dating some of the single expats that were there. Lots of giggles and such. Of course, when one goes fishing in unknown waters they should be very careful. You might catch a barracuda or something even worse!

They don’t cook on-site they take your order and send a text to a kitchen who prepares your food then they send it back via boat. We ordered a pizza for Jessie and myself. I don’t remember what Jean got. The pizza was good but too small for my liking. Still that was okay, I gained five pounds while on the island in March.
The service was on time and friendly. I’d give the place five stars out of five. I don’t know how they could do anything better. They also played a lot of rock and roll but later went to cheesy pop.
I would be sure to include it in my plans. Its a great place to hang out during the hot part of the day, the only better place would be the water.

Hi Rusty,
Bantayan is Really A Beautiful Place……Mother Natures’ gift…Mangroves are so pretty, I bit there are a lot of crabs there… if I’m not mistaken, crabs like to hide under mangrove roots…. The floating bar is also awesome, simple yet very inviting… water sooo clear, I can feel/hear the cool breeze thru my computer (lol) u can also see fishes hehehe… wish we were there to enjoy the clear water, lay around be lazy, eat, drink & be merry….
It’s really cold here in Colorado Sprg. I can’t wait ‘till next yr to visit Bantayan. I really want my husband to see Puerto Prencesa in Palawan & Bantayan Island for our next trip…
Hello to Jess, she’s also pretty pinay. Thank you & God bless.
Ann, thanks for being the first to post a comment on this site!
Hello Ann, Yes,, Jessie is very pretty. It is always a pleasure too look at you too.
I hope to meet you and your husband when you come next year.
I would think Colorado would be a nice place too. I’ve always wanted to see that area, especially Arizona.
Maayong adlaw Rusty,
Glad I’m the first one to comment on this site…. hehehe.. keep up the good work.
Cheers!
Bad news, the floating bar is no more. It was destroyed in a storm!
Is that really true?? I was on floatingbar in Jan it was a nice place!
I was there a couple of weeks ago and it is gone. I hope it returns, I was looking forward to more visits.
It is a pleasure reading your comments on everything. So clear and real! We plan to retire around there. I like to snorkle. You don’t say anything about snorkling. How is the water around Bogo and Virgin Beach?
I did not go snorkling but I saw some people take a quick boat ride to do so. I hope to do that on a trip not too far down the road.
The water couldn’t be any more perfect. Its as clear as it could be. Beaches are clean. Sometimes the water is quite warm!
hello rusty. thefloatingbar will be back in oct 2009 . its just down in marikaban for the season.
Fantastic, that’s what I get for trying to talk to Filipino. LOL We probably lost something in the translation. I really need to learn the language. I’m going to go strike that text out.
I’ll see you, well the girls in Oct.

I don’t know where Mabolo is. I take a bus to Hagnaya and catch the ferry to the island.
