Tickety Boo Resort and the Beach

This beach was on the northern side of the wharf. It is still part of Santa Fe Beach. The water was quite warm. Warmer than what we had experienced on the south side a month earlier. I don’t know if it was just different currents or if it is always this way. There was none of that initial shock of getting into the water that one so often experiences.

I’m not sure how anyone could find a more awesome scene. Perhaps with a few dozen bikini clad Filipina. Actually, I don’t think you can improve it. Part of the beauty is that there are so few people. Just sand, palm trees and fishermen. And a little seaweed too. There was more seaweed at this end of the beach and less coral. We’ve been gathering coral for the fish tank we plan to get.

The beauty of the beach couldn’t be better. There was just a bit of an issue on actually getting to the beach. There is a necessary retaining wall. To keep the bay at bay. The resort built some steps into the wall. They need to be redesigned. They are awkward to climb and perhaps a little risky. For the young and nimble, its not much of an issue. From the older and “larger” among we humans, its not an easy crossing. Again though, this something that doesn’t surprise me in the Philippines. It is hard to avoid the temptation of how things would be done in the US and apply it to the Philippines. That’s just not a good thing to do here. The steps here are within expectations one should have in the Philippines.

I love getting into the ocean waters. The salt has wonderful healing properties. Though it has been a month since my last visit, I have been enjoying fewer rashes and skin irritations since my return up until just this week. Having lupus, dermatitis and maybe some other skin conditions my skin is a mess. I break out into an itch and my skin just kind of falls off. Sometimes I help it along but other people don’t end up with holes in their skin from scratching and I don’t scratch holes in other people. I have no idea really what’s going on with this. If I could get in the ocean once a week, my skin would be much less of a problem. I’m having more trouble here as I am having trouble finding detergent mild enough for my super sensitive skin. The ocean though, wipes all that away.

To read about the pool area of Tickety Boo, continue on to part two where we will highlight the wall paintings by local artist.  We will also cover the live band the resort provides and other amenities.
